There are 24 pupils in class 2 this year, aged between six and seven years. The morning sessions are mainly literacy and numeracy, with foundation subjects being covered in the afternoon sessions. Both core and foundation subjects make full use of the interactive board technologies.

ICT skills of word processing, creating pictures, control and modelling and finding out information are taught in year 2. ICT is used throughout the curriculum areas.

Our Science topics include work on forces, plants and animals in the environment, materials, health and growth, and electricity.

Many areas of the broad and balanced curriculum are brought to life with visits from theatre groups, the wildlife trust, storytellers and members of the medical and emergency services. While the children learn about other cultures from visiting specialists.

Outside visits are arranged for the children during the year and are based on work being covered in that term. In the Autumn term, for example, there is a visit to Sandford Mill for first hand experience of forces.

Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage join together to perform a Christmas play for parents and the friends of the school. We have a Key Stage 1 Sports Day and Summer Visit, which includes Reception children. The children take an active part in visiting out village church each term for special services which friends and family also attend.
