November 2007

Dear Parents

I am delighted to send you this wonderful report (opens in a new window) from our recent OFSTED inspection and a letter for your child from our inspector Mrs Ruth Frith. I hope that you’ll have the time to read the report and read the letter with your child.

Mrs Frith didn’t have any issues with our school. She mentioned two points that she has suggested for us to consider; one about developing our marking a little more than we do now and the other was to develop a more cross curricular approach to our curriculum.

You will see our article in the parish news next month where we’ve quoted OFSTED’s judgement:

“This is a good school where pupils’ personal development and well being are outstanding and standards are typically exceptionally high”.

Mr Bailey, our Chairman of Governors, has said that the Governors’ priority is to ensure that the school provides the best possible education for children living in and around Dedham. We don’t compete for high ranking in league tables, although we have an excellent record. We have an expectation that our very professional staff adopt teaching methods to ensure each individual child is happy and achieves to the best of his or her ability.

As you can probably guess, I’m very pleased that the school’s achievements have been recognised so positively. It is a worthy acknowledgement of the contribution of a strong staff team who always give of their best for our children. Our children make good progress and they achieve well here, because they are keen to learn and the teaching is consistently good. We are fortunate that you, as the parents of our children, all are very supportive both to your children and the school.

Well done to all of the children, we are all very proud of you.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs H Tetchner
Headmistress

Christmas Lunch will be on Monday 17 th December, a separate menu will be published nearer the time so that you can book this for your child. The menu on Tuesday will be one of the children’s favourites – sausages, chips and beans (Vegetarian Option will be vegetarian sausages). As the children are only in for 2 days this week.

Also, our School Cook has asked me to inform you all that we are experiencing some problems with the milk Scholarest are sending in for the children. The children don’t seem to like it for some reason and they are throwing it away, so, I have asked her to make enquiries about reinstating fruit squash instead. For your information the children have free access to water. If any of your children would have a problem with fruit squash replacing milk would you please send me in a note by the end of next week please (28 th September)
